If we look at the history of sindhi literature we are
bound to notice that it was never possible to progress
in the direction of development of original and
authentic sindhi literature because even in the pre
independence era Sindh was the north west border of the
country and was first place to face attacks of
foreigners, probable due to this we see that there is
very high influence of Persian, Arabic, English &
Portuguese languages over the sindhi language. Expansion
of Islam in the Sindh region around 712 AD also prove a
major instrument for the vanishing of Sindhi literature
of Vedic era.
18th centaury is considered as the Golden period for
the poetic development and progress of Sindhi literature
as during this period unique creations like "Shah Jo
Risalo" were created and Sachal was in full swing to
enrich the sindhi literature. This heritage was ably
carried forward by Sindhi writers and sindhi poets like
Dayaram Gidumal, Parmanand Mewaram, Lalchand Amardinomal,
Acharya Gidwani, N R Malkani, Dr. H M Gurbakshani and
others. In the post independence era many writers and
poets like Prabhu Wafa, Prof. Ram Panjwani, A J Uttam,
arjun Shad, Popati Hirani, Dr. Dayal Asha and many more
have contributed towards the progress and development of
sindhi language & literature in their own style of
writing. |
