Gurunanak Story

These are the stories which I have heard during my childhood days in company of my other brothers and sisters from our mother Late Dadanbai and father Late Dr. Premchand Manghirmalani at Burhanpur Madhya Pradesh. I am trying to narrate these stories related with life of Adi Guru, Guru Nanak Dev ji, in the manner, I heard about 40 -45 years back.

Sacha Souda [True Deal]

From the childhood Guru Nanak have a tremendous attraction for sufi, saints and meditation. His father Mehata Kalu was afraid of that Nanak might not get interest in normal human life, hence to give practical lessons to son, one day Mehata Kalu Ji gave some money to Nanak and ask him to go to market for business and do a beneficial deal. Nanak went to market and was back home at late hours of night. Mehata Kalu was very eager to know the result, he queried about the business done by Nanak.
"I have done Sacha Souda (true deal), a real business with the money given by you." Nanak replied, "while going to market, I saw few Sadhu asking for food, so I purchased rice and vegetables and come back to home only after feeding them."

Water to Forefathers

Once Guru Nanak Dev Ji went to Haridwar and saw that people after the bath taking water in hands and facing to sun, spreading it on ground. Guru Sahib ask them the reason for this. People replied, water pouring from their hands will reach to their forefathers in the heaven.
Guru sahib brought up a bucket and started  spreading water in the opposite direction of all people. People were surprised to see and ask reason of doing so. Guru sahib replied your action reminded me of my crop fields in Kartarpur,  so I have started watering my crops in Kartarpur. Many of people laughed at simplicity of Guru Sahib and told that water will not reach to crops in Kartarpur.
Guru Sahib replied, if your water can reach to your forefathers in heaven, certainly my water will reach to crops in Kartarpur just because Kartarpur is nearer than heaven.
Moral of Story: Do what you want to do for your parents and elders when they are alive.

After marriage Guru Nanak Dev Ji were asked by father to do something for earning money, father offered Nanak to join the job of keeping the account and look after the Modi Khana of Dault khan Lodhi. Guru ji accepted the job and started working.
After some days Sultan got complains that Nanak is not doing the job in proper way and spent most of the time with Mardana in reciting own compiled divine hymns. Nanak is using the same and single weight for measuring all the quantities, so he decided to check this. He sit at a hidden place in Modi Khana and saw Nanak was whispering Tera! Tera! Sab Tera! and giving people their required quantity of grains by weighing with single weight. To surprise of Dault Khan all were getting their asked quantity and money in cash box was as it should be.

Guru Nanak Dev ji were on travel and reached to village Saidpur, where they stayed at the house of poor carpenter Bhai Laloo Ji. News of arival of Guruji spread, village head Malik Bhagu arranged a grand feast for Guru Sahib and send his servant for inviting Guru Nanak but Guru Sahib refused to accept invitation.
