Swami
Tenu Ram Maharaji Ji were born on
6th July 1887 in the village
Khandu [presently in Pakistan] of
Hyderabad Sindh. Mother Krishnadevi
and father Chelaram both were of the
religious nature and always feel
pleasure and pleasure and pride in
serving Sadhu, Saints & spiritual
masters, who are looked by masses as
the people nearer to God. This family
atmosphere proved the child to develop
a great attraction for spirituality
and life filled with divine light.
Childhood of Swami Tenuram was not
alike the other children as he was
feeling more pleasure and enjoyment in
singing the devotional songs instead
of going to school. His Melodious
voice impressed younger brother
Gwalanand but the elder brother
Tahilram was unhappy with these
activities of him. At the tender age
of 14 years he met with famous sufi
saint of Sindh, Sant Shri Asuram sahib
and was blessed with Guru Mantra from
the Santji.
Swami's
couldn't progress much on spiritual
roads at that time as just within two
years of this when he was of 16 years,
he lost the sheltering shadows of
father Shri Chelaram and was forced to
take the responsibility of looking
after the family.
The born
attraction for the spiritual progress
proved much stronger as even during
the days of looking after the family
affairs Swami ji kept on helping poor
and feeding the cattle as the part of
day to day life. He started to write
devotional poem and with time become
popular as the "Sant Kavi" [Poet
Saint] of Sindh. To progress
further on the spiritual paths swami
ji started to make self free from the
family responsibilities, he left the
house and settled at Tando Aadam in
the Nawabshah district, where he
established Prem Prakash Mandal. Prime
object of Swami ji was to fill the
life of masses with Prem [Love] and
Prakash [Light] so the journey of
common people from the darkness of
ignorance towards the destination of
spirituality filled with divine light
may become speedy.
The
place "Wari Jo daro" at Tando
Aadam where the ashram was started
initially, is famous today as the "Amrapur
Asthan" and is the most auspicious
pilgrimage for the followers. In those
days, among the saints of sindh, the
place "Wari Jo Daro" become famous as
the place for having a dialogue about
the eternal God and meet with the need
of spiritual diet. The symbolic words
"Satnam Sakhi" of Prem Prakash
Mandal are also the creation of Swami
Tenu Ram sahib.
Prem
Prakash Mandal started to provide
assistant and help to common people
during the "Kumbh Mela" and
other pilgrimages. Swami ji were of
the strong opinion that human beings,
birds and animals belongs to same
class of living hence killing the
birds and animals for flesh food is
unnatural and non humanitarian. Swami
ji were strong supporter for the
vegetarian food habits in the human
beings. according to him
"TIL BHAR MACHALI KHAT JO, KOT GAU
KARE DAN |
KASHI KARVAT JA MARE, TO BHI NARAK
NIDAN ||"
[In
those days it was tradition that old
aged people like to stay at most
scared Hindu city Kashi for their last
respire on earth and this act was
known as the "Kashi Karvat".]
On the
Saturday the sixth day of Hindu Month
Jeth [corresponding to May 1942] at
Hyderabad's Prem Prakash Mandal swami
Tenoo ram respire for last. His
disciple Swami Sarvanand took the
charge of Ashram and Prem Prakash
Mandal. |
