Sadhu Hiranand
Sadhu Hiranand Advani was the Vivekananda of Sindh. He
was a social reformer, educationalist, journalist and a
man of service. He was a picture of humility and
simplicity.
Born in Hyderabad, Sindh (1863-1893 A.D.); he grew up to
be a brilliant student. He was sent for college
education to Calcutta. He came in contact with great
personalities like Shri Keshab Chandra Sen and Swami
Ramakrishna Paramhansa.
To propagate right kind of education he established the
Nawalrai Academy, an ideal school, where special
attention was paid to character building along with the
education. Within a few years the school became famous
as Sadhu Nawalrai Hiranand Academy. Poor and deserving
students were given special care. Sadhu T. L. Vaswani
studied in this academy. During epidemic of plague in
Hyderabad he looked after the sick. He awakened Sindhi
women and started education for girls. He started Sindh
Sudhar paper in Sindhi. He was a man of simplicity and
sacrifice. Rishi Dayaram Gidumal called him the "Soul". |

Sant Dalpat Rai
Sant Dalpatrai was born in the historic city " Sevan" of
Sindh, though exact date is not known but all are sure
that the year was 1769. Sant Dalpatrai were the master
of sindhi and Farsi language. He had also wrote poetry
in Hindi. Sant Dalpatrai were married and have a son "Raghumal"
but all this was not providing the mental satisfaction
to him hence he went to Swami Aasardas at Hyderabad
where he got the way to spirituality and freedom from
physical body to feel the eternal peace and pleasure.
Sant Dalpatrai died at the age of eighty in the year
1849. |

Kishan Rahi - Sindhi Poet -
Sindhi Sahitya Academy Award
In the year 1971 Sahitya Academy Award for Sindhi
literature was awarded to famous Sindhi poet Krishan "Rahi".
He was in his teen age, being born at Larkana Sindh in
the year 1932, at the time when Sindhis forced to
migrate India due to partition of country. Krishan Rahi
completed his graduation from Bombay University. His
some of famous books are "Lurk Ain Murk" [short Stories
published in 1956] and "Kumach" [published in 1969] for
which he was honored with academy award. |

Narayan Shyam - Sindhi
Poet - Sindhi Sahitya Academy Award
Famous Sindhi poet Narayan Gokuldas Nagwani, more
popularly known as Narayan "Shyam" was born in Nwabshah
district of Sindh and educated at Mumbai has received
the prestigious literature award "Sahitya Academy Award"
for his poetry "Wari-a-Bharyo Paland" in the year 1970.
His some of other published works are Maaka Bina Rabel,
Maak Phura, Ranga Rati Lahar etc. |
